Early Admission into Kindergarten Testing

PASSEC conducts testing allowing children early admission into Kindergarten.  Two parts of criteria needed by public school systems are 1) student aptitude (intelligence) and 2) achievement testing which needs to be conducted by a licensed psychologist. PASSEC provides evaluation in these two areas only.  Parent is responsible for collecting data in other criteria areas as required by the school system. However, school principal will not consider early admission without student aptitude and achievement testing completed.

According to state policy (16 NCAC 6E.0105), a child who has reached one’s 4th birthday by April 16 is able to enter Kindergarten if they demonstrate “extraordinary level of academic ability and maturity” (policy ID Number: GCS-J-001). The school principal and/or eligibility team determines if a child meets local criteria for early admission into kindergarten.

PASSEC conducts Early Admission testing at a flat rate. Please contact Melinda Bustamante, office manager, to set up an appointment. Melinda can be reached at 252.256.3343
